Contemporary Impressionist Ann Bodie Sweeney was introduced to oil painting 50 years ago when as a young military wife she first lifted an oil ladened brush to canvas at Camp LeJeune NC, then later studied fine art for 2 years at a community college in Boston where her Marine husband was stationed. A move to Germany brought old master technique classes and at last a transfer to Southern California put Ann in an art school at Palomar College and after 4 years of study received an AA in illustration in 1984. Ann worked designing book covers and illustrating for Marine helicopter training at Camp Pendleton, 1984-87. Then cancer set her back for a number of years only painting for friends and family. A move to Columbia eventually led her to CCAL in 2013.
Award winning artist Sonya Diimmler paints colorful South Carolina lake and landscapes along with her favorite subject and muse her Bulldog Smedley and her Boston Terrier Mattie. Having just started painting in 2015, Sonya fell in love with the process and quickly began a daily painting practice. She continually seeks to improve through frequent workshops and has studied with Mary Bentz Gilkerson and Michael Story. In 2016 she joined the Crooked Creek Art League in Chapin where she served first as Workshop Coordinator, then President and currently serves as Parlamentarian.
