Contemporary Impressionist Ann Sweeney has won awards at a number of local art shows including the South Carolina State Fair, Crooked Creek Art League and Seven Oaks Art League.
In the early days, as a young military wife, Ann toyed with painting taking occasional workshops and developing her natural talent. In the early 80’s she began painting more seriously and by 1984 she earned a degree in Illustration at Palomar College in Southern California. She worked as a graphic artist and illustrator for a book publisher for a number of years. In the late 80’s a serious health crisis waylaid her art work and took her down another path. She did not begin painting again until 2013 when she joined the Crooked Creek Art League. Since then, she has been an active member in the league and has committed to a daily painting practice.
In 2017 she built a new home and included a Studio Space in the plans which she shares with her daughter Sonya.
